Pricing:  The staff of Capital Consignment sets prices.  Consigned items are kept in the store for 90 days.  There are two markdowns of ten percent at thirty and sixty days.

Consignment Terms:  Once a contract is signed and an account is open, items are consigned for 90 days.  The proceeds are split 50-50.  Click here to download a contract.

Item Condition:  Items approved for consignment must be cleaned and in good working order.  Any defects must be disclosed at drop-off.  Sometimes furniture, especially upholstered pieces, may be accepted in less-than-perfect condition if the staff feels it has a good overall look or it is something we feel is worth restoration.  In that case, the pieces will be sold "as-is" or as "bones."  A charge of $25 per hour will be assessed if items require substantial cleaning or polishing.

How to consign:  Small items can be brought into the store without an appointment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays between 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.  Larger items require photographs in advance.  Pictures can be delivered to the store or emailed to us at:  info@capitalconsignment.net.

What to consign:  Well made classic furnishings from very traditional to mid-century do very well.  Silver, China, or Crystal should have at least six place settings free from defects.  Original artwork or signed and number prints are preferred, but exceptions are occasionally made.  Jewelry should be clean and of reasonable quality.  Costume pieces are perfectly fine provided they are of a recognizable maker.  Keep in mind we are not gemologists so we are unable to assess gem quality.

What not to consign:  Furniture constructed of particle board or MDF.  We are sorry, but we do not accept IKEA furniture for consignment.  Items that have strong odors or have been soiled by pets are also not acceptable.  If you have any questions, send us a picture!

Moving and Delivery:  We are not big people - so we will help move items within reason, our backs permitting.  We do not pickup or deliver, however, we have the names of several reliable movers and delivery services that would be able to help you and guarantee your purchase will be moved safely.
